What is Jasper AI?

Formerly known as Jarvis.AI, Jasper.AI is a copywriting tool that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to help copywriting professionals write new original content, and easily improve their content output.

Used by professionals in a wide range of different fields – from content marketers, direct response copywriters, email marketing professionals, and a lot more – Jasper.AI can write short form content such as Facebook and Google Ad headlines to 3,000 word blog posts that you wouldn’t believe were written by a robot.

In fact, we’ve used this tool to write multiple parts of this post. Can you guess which ones?

If you’re unsure whether a robot can write content just as good as a human can, then read on.

How Does it Work?

Similar to other tools in the market, Jasper uses GPT-3 (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer 3) technology to create content that is very difficult to determine whether it was written by a human, or not.

In short, and without going into the specifics of how GPT-3 works, it uses text it finds on the internet to generate realistic human-like text. According to the founders, Jasper was trained to read 10% of the internet.

But don’t worry if this all sounds a little too technical for you.

As a user, the only thing you need to do is to input some text based on what you want to write, and the tool will automatically fill in the blanks.

In the next chapters, we’ll talk about how to use the tool and walk you through the dozens of different content templates it includes.

Who Should Use Jasper AI?

Jasper can be used by almost anyone that needs to write content on a regular basis.

Whether that’s content for emails, blog posts, ads, or landing pages, Jasper includes different templates for almost everything you need.

However, with this particular tool, we believe it will be more helpful to long-form content such as blog writers, email marketers, and even book writers.

Yes, people have even written books with it!

Now, before we move onto the next section, it’s important to say this: Jasper is better used as a complement to your writing, and not as a replacement for a human copywriter. In other words, as with all AI-based software, human supervision is always required.

Jasper AI Content Types

With more than 50 different content templates it can write, Jasper can write content for a variety of different needs.

From basic copywriting frameworks such as the AIDA (attention-interest-desire-action), PAS (problem-agitate-solution), to eCommerce product descriptions, entire blog posts, and even social media posts, you will certainly find something for you.

Does it Write Plagiarized Content?

One of the most common questions asked about these tools is: “how can we be sure it isn’t plagiarizing content?

Here’s a quote from Jasper’s help section answering that same question.

“(…) Although there is a chance that general language is shared on the internet across blogs, Jasper writes content uniquely for you. He is trained on a trillion data points that use pattern recognition and not previously written sentences or phrases. If he sees something similar, he does not write the same thing again. Jasper is trained to detect patterns and phrases that people have already written, so the styling is similar, and then optimize your output to match those patterns but not replicate them.”

If you’re still not convinced, you can always use a tool such as CopyScape to check for plagiarism.

In our experience – and we’ve been using the tool for months now – we haven’t once seen anything that resembles plagiarism.

Jasper AI: Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Great for long-form writing
  • Includes +50 different types of content
  • Writes in +25 different languages
  • Super easy and intuitive to use
  • Multiple integrations with other tools (SurferSEO & CopyScape)

Cons:

  • There’s a learning curve to leverage the tool
  • Can sometimes “go rogue”
  • Lacks the human touch, as all other AI tools do

How Much Does it Cost?

Jasper comes in two different price packages: “Starter” and “Boss Mode”.

The “Starter” package starts at $29/month and is capped at 20,000 words each month. It also doesn’t include the long-form creator which, in our opinion, is by far the most useful tool in its belt.

Jasper AI starter vs boss mode

The second and most expensive (and popular) package starts at $99/month, and includes 100,000 words each month. Additionally, it comes with our already mentioned long-form document creator which is perfect for blog writers, or anyone that writes long form documents.

In other words, you can use it to replace your usual writing software (Word, Google Docs, Notion, etc) and write directly in the platform.

As you write, Jasper will understand what your article is about and, whenever you feel stuck, you can simply hit the “generate” button and it will immediately write text for you.

Jasper AI Alternatives

Other than Jasper, there are a few other tools in the market with the same purpose. Here are a few examples:

  1. Copy.AI
  2. Shortly.AI (only other tool that writes long-form documents)
  3. Copysmith
  4. Rytr

In another article, we’ve written about Copy.AI and made a useful comparison between the two tools.

Jasper AI Testimonials

Jasper boasts an incredible community and thousands of fantastic reviews – it is, in fact, the tool with the best reviews in the market.

Jasper AI reviews

From all major “review” websites in the world, the worst rating they have is an outstanding 4.8 out of 5. And from our perspective, the reviews are more than justified.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is 20,000 words enough for a blog writer?
    • We really recommend the “Boss Mode” feature, where the word count isn’t as relevant. However, if you’re just starting out, 20,000 should be enough.

Conclusion

All in all, Jasper is a wonderful tool that writes astonishingly well – considering it’s a robot, that is. In fact, it probably writes better than a lot of human writers out there.

However, it doesn’t do all the work itself. To be best used, you’ll need some writing experience and the ability to guide the tool properly so it can write the content you need.

Plus, you will always need to double check the output as it can sometimes write some weird (and often funny) things.

By using this tool, most people claim they can more than double the amount of content they produce each month – and that sounds like our experience, too.

As a final word, make sure to use the tool sparingly and don’t over-rely on it to write your entire content for you.
