What Are AI Copywriting Tools?

Basically, AI copywriting tools are software trained by professional copywriters and marketers to mimic their work to produce high-quality copy on their own.

Now, these tools aren’t meant to write entire pieces of content on their own, but they do help in a few different ways that can save us, marketers, a lot of time.

Now, as with everything related to AI, human input is still really important.

With that said, before we proceed any further, it’s important to understand that these tools do not replace good old-fashioned copywriting skills.

While it’s true that these AI tools can produce high-quality content, without the human touch they won’t be able to do anything as creative or unique as a good writer would.

So while they’re not meant to replace us — marketers and writers — here are some of their benefits, and a few reasons why you should consider them.

1. Brainstorming Ideas

The first thing AI copywriting tools can do for us, marketers, is to help with the repetitiveness of writing headlines or titles.

Let’s say you have to write 5 different headlines for a new Google Ads campaign; you can use one of these tools to give you some options.

As a media buyer myself, I understand how hard it can be to come up with new headlines for every ad after a while. Now, let me be clear on that…

I’m not saying you should use these tools to avoid putting in any work when it comes to writing headlines, or the (invaluable) research that comes with it. After all, copywriting is still one of the most valuable skills a marketer can have.

However, I’ve seen firsthand how the tool can provide some new ideas for headlines that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise, or simply to get my creative flow running. Plus, some of the headlines have shown some interesting results!

2. They Save Time

The second thing to consider when using these tools is the time they’ll save you.

You see, it takes a lot of hours to learn how to be good at copywriting, and it’s not an easy skill for many people to master. So, even if you want your team members or employees on board with writing headlines creatively, the results may not be the ones you expect.

Which Tool Should You Use?

There are several different tools you can choose from, and all of them have their own pros and cons. A few examples:

How Much Do They Cost?

From our research and our own experience with conversion.ai, most users can expect to spend somewhere between $30 to $100 each month.

There are some more expensive packages, depending on how much content you need to create, though, but we’ve found that for most cases the cheaper packages are more than enough.

1. Conversion.ai

This tool comes with two different pricing models: Starter, and Pro.

  • Starter: 29$/month for 20,000 words and a 400 character input limit. Plus, the long-form assistant writer isn’t included.
  • Pro: 99$/month for unlimited words, and 600 character input limit. It includes the Long-Form assistant, which is one of the coolest features in the tool.

If you don’t need to write blog posts or any other type of long-form content, you can likely do well enough with the Starter plan.

Note: all packages include access to a private community/group on Facebook with thousands of members who share information on how to best use this tool, as well as a lot of other (relevant) content around the topic of AI copywriting.

2. Copy.ai

Copy.ai includes one package that starts at $49/month billed monthly, or $39/month billed annually, for a single user.

This package includes unlimited runs and access to all of their tools. In other words, it may be a cheaper option than the $99/month than Conversion.ai.

If you need more seats for your team, you’ll need to contact them for a custom plan.

We’re testing this tool next month, and we’ll edit this information once we’ve done so.

3. Copysmith.ai

The final tool in this list is copysmith.ai, which comes with three different packages starting from $19/month for small businesses to $499/month for larger enterprises.

The tool works with a tiered model, where each tier contains a different number of available credits. According to them, each credit will output between 400 and 500 words or 5-20 outputs depending on the content type.

  • Starter: at $19/month billed monthly, this package includes 50 credits per month and 20 plagiarism checks per month. It doesn’t include the long-form editor, similar to conversion.ai‘s model.
  • Professional: at $50/month billed monthly, this package includes unlimited credits per month and 100 plagiarism checks per month. It now includes the long-form blog generator, with 100 long-form blog generations.
  • Enterprise: at $499/month billed monthly, this package includes unlimited credits with no restrictions on plagiarism checks. This tier does include the long-form editor for an additional charge of $

So, Are AI Copywriting Tools Worth It?

I’m writing this post both from the perspective of a blog writer who writes for several different websites and as a media buyer, too.

So, I’ll share my perspectives from both points of view.

For Bloggers & Content Marketers

As a blog writer, conversion.ai has helped me increase my output by over 100%.

Where I would previously be able to write a couple of blog posts a week, I’m now able to write twice as many posts in the same amount of time. Literally.

Now, as I’ve mentioned before, this tool doesn’t replace any of the previous work I had to do, nor does it write entire posts for me.

  • I still need to provide the input the tool needs to take the content in the direction I want it to, and I still need to spend some time editing the content to make sure my thoughts are reflected accurately, and that my voice can still be found in there.
  • I also still need to research before I write, draft the outlines for the post, and find the best keywords for my blogs to rank.

With that said, if you’re a blog writer or content marketer, think of these tools as a little voice in your head (or as assistants) that will help you fight back writer’s block, find content ideas, and make sure your writing is as effective as it can be.

For Media Buyers & Advertisers

As a media buyer, I’ve been able to dramatically increase the output of copy variations I can dish out – whether that’s for Facebook Ads, Google Ads, or other digital marketing channels.

If you’re a media buyer, these tools can help simplify your life tremendously by offering copywriting services of their own – so that you don’t have to worry about spending as much time searching for the right words and phrases for ads as you otherwise would.
